What is a heat exchanger?

It is basically a vessel through which you pass the swimming pool water. Inside the vessel there are a collection of small bore tubes connected together in a network, through these tubes is passed hot water from your swimming pool or house boiler and the heat is transferred/exchanged to the swimming pool water.

There is also a port on the vessel where you insert a thermo-couple temperature probe which in turn is connected to a thermostatic control just like those in your home only this one is sensing the swimming pool water temperature. The thermostat is then connected to a pump and when required the pump switches on and hot boiler water circulates, raising the pool water temperature to the temperature you require when the pump will turn off and wait to be required again.
